Introduction

The Oxford photographic grid is an attempt to provide uniform coverage of photos over Oxford in a systematic way, to give a representative image of what Oxford is to the artists involved.

Oxford is a heavily photographed city, being one of the main international tourist destinations in the UK. However, such tourist photos are generally confined to the famous attractions and buildings in Oxford. More remote parts of Oxford go unnoticed, but in many ways are more representative of the city.

To provide an unbiased picture of the city, a uniform grid is superimposed on a map of the city, and a different artist is sent to each of the node locations to take a photo. More specific details of the project can be found on the pages of this website.
